Security Insurance began as Security Trust and Title Company in the early 1920s as an abstract and title company that also sold insurance. Roger and Imogene Thomas originally owned the company.
Pauline Kanode and Ivan Cressman joined the company in the mid 1940s. Pauline was the abstractor and Ivan worked for the Federal Land Bank and sold insurance. Ivan and his wife, Lillian, purchased the company in 1967 from Roger’s widow Imogene. Ivan’s daughter, Susan, and her husband Vic Worthington came to work at the agency in 1970 and purchased the company in 1975 from Lillian.
Wanting to focus on the insurance side of the company, the Worthingtons sold the abstract and title business in 1979 to First American Title Guaranty. At that time, First American Title Guaranty retained the Security Trust and Title Company name and the insurance agency name was changed to Security Insurance Agency. In 1983 the Worthingtons purchased the L.O. Tracy Agency and added it to Security Insurance Agency. In the early 1990s the Hughes Agency in Moorcroft was acquired.
Vicky Vineyard and Sharon Materi purchased the agency in 2001. In 2002 they purchased the Davies Agency in Lusk from Doyle and Monika Davies. Today the growing business operates under the joint management of Vicky and Sharon.
